How to Reverse a Disbursement Within Pay Admin
This feature allows customers the option of reversing an individual disbursement or an entire file within the Pay Admin platform without needing assistance from a Branch Pay Admin agent. All Pay Admin users with the default Pay Admin role, or any users where this permission has been added to the role, will have the ability to reverse disbursements in Pay Admin. How to Reverse One Disbursement
- Navigate to the Disbursements page
- Locate the disbursement to reverse
- Scroll to the far right and look for the three dots
- From the dropdown menu, choose "Reverse Payout"
- Enter the amount to reverse.
- Select a reason code.
- Click the acknowledgment.

In the background, the system checks to see if there are sufficient funds in the user’s Wallet to reverse the amount.
- If there are NOT sufficient funds, an error appears.

If there ARE sufficient funds, you'll receive a success message. Continue to step #8.
- Disbursement details will show the time of the attempted reversal, the admin who attempted it, and the reason code.
- Status moves to “Reversed” or “Partially Reversed”.
- Disbursement details show the time of the reversal, the admin who completed the reversal, and the reason code that was selected by the admin.
Important to Note: Any reversal would be on the respective invoice for the day the reversal was done. There is no separate credit listed but the credit is subtracted from the invoice total. We do not display these adjusted amounts aside from the "partially reversed" and "reversed" status next to the specific disbursements included in the invoice.
How to Reverse an Entire File:

Navigate to the Organization Tab.

Click on Integration Status.

In the table view, find the file you’d like to reverse.

Scroll to the far right in the table and click on the three dots.

From the dropdown menu, choose "Reverse file."

Select a reason for the reversal from the dropdown.

Check the box to agree to remove the disbursed funds.

Click "Yes Continue" on the next prompt to confirm.

The file reversal will be processed, and a pop-up will confirm once completed.
Handling Insufficient Available Funds
What happens if I attempt to reverse a payment but the user doesn't have enough funds?
If you attempt to reverse a payment and the user's account does not have sufficient funds, we regret to inform you that Branch cannot refund your organization. In such instances, we advise working directly with the worker to resolve the matter and collect any erroneous payment.
Can Branch provide a balance to the admin?
Branch can only process a reversal based on the amount specified by the admin. It's crucial to understand that we do not perform partial deductions. Therefore, if the admin attempts to reverse a disbursement of $5.00 but the user only has $2.00 in their bank account, the reversal itself will fail. We can only reverse the exact amount specified by the admin.
