With end-to-end 1099-NEC/K tax filing, your workers manage their own tax information in the Branch app or Branch Direct. This article explains what they see, so you can support them.
During Onboarding
Workers are asked for their W-9 information—legal name, address, TIN or EIN, and whether they're filing as an individual or a business—and to choose how they want to receive their 1099-NEC/K form. If your organization uses Unified Onboarding (Branch's combined signup and tax-profile flow), this happens inline. Otherwise, workers are prompted immediately after onboarding.
TIN Verification
Branch verifies the worker's name and TIN against IRS records during onboarding and whenever they update their information. See How do I file a 1099-NEC/K form? for what happens if verification doesn't match and how you track results.
Throughout the Year
Workers can update their name, address, TIN, filing type, and delivery preference at any time. Changes to name or TIN trigger a new TIN verification.
Filing as a Business
A worker can choose to file under a business name and EIN rather than their legal name and SSN. You don't need to make this change for them.
At Tax Time
Workers who consented to e-delivery are notified when their form is available and can view and download it in the app. Workers who didn't consent receive a paper copy by mail at no additional cost.
Workers who opted for e-delivery can submit requests for form corrections from the app; workers with paper mail delivery don't have this option. See 1099-NEC/K Form Corrections Guide for how corrections are submitted and reviewed for each case.
What Workers Can't Change
Workers can't edit earnings or payout amounts. Direct workers with earnings questions to your team.

Branch is not a bank. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC and Evolve Bank & Trust, Member FDIC, which are Branch’s bank partners. The name of the bank partner for your account is listed on the back of your debit card and can also be found in the Branch App under “Your Account Information”. FDIC insurance only applies to eligible accounts should the bank holding your funds fail. Branch Mastercard Debit Cards are issued by Evolve Bank & Trust or Lead Bank, Member FDIC, as applicable, pursuant to a license from Mastercard and may be used everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted.
